Anyone know what the alphabets mean in the tracking numbers?
R, C, H, E & L (and U) are international prefix codes that correlate to a different service level. The last 2 letters are the country of origin. Domestic codes are almost always 16 digits numbers but some domestic pre-paid packets will start with M or T. Most government express and expedited packets (passports and stuff) start with an M. Something to do with those letters being hybrids for international and domestic. The second letter is meaningless. R & L are by far the most common for international. Domestics are 99% just numbers, not letters. More on reddit.com

Just curious to know what the beginning letters of an Xpresspost tracking label mean.
The format is usually (ex.) : AA000000000AA
I know the last two letters are the originating country (country from where it is sent -- so within Canada would be CA).... And I'm assuming the beginning letters are the region within the originating country, after I realized that a few of my parcels that came from the same city had the same two beginning letters.
Though I can't be sure.... Just always been curious.

Canada post Tracking Error due to Printing. Canada post has 16 Digit Tracking number. If you see a 'C' alphabet in the beginning, it is actually a Zero. '0'. There is a clear printing error. Canada post always have two alphabet Tracking number like CA, or all 16 digits are numerical. I wasted a whole day, to get an agent on phone, to eventually tell me it is not C, it is 'O'. I am saving you all this headache. Also Canada Post Chatting system does not work. To top that, save yourself another headache, virtual assistant will keep bugging a lot, so keep saying on Customer Care direct phone line, "Customer Service Agent" , till the virtual auto agent, stop talking and finally connect you with a real life Human Agent. Take care.

In the Account Number field, type the seven-digit Canada Post account number for this location. Be sure to enter exactly seven digits. If it is not seven digits, tracking errors can occur. In the Domestic Code field, type a name for the carrier as you want it to appear in this Configuration Tool and in Parcel. For example, if you are setting up more than one Canada Post account for this location, you might want to type CAPO-2 if this is the second Canada Post account for this location.
