Hey everyone. I just bought my first house and I’m looking to completely finish it with Canadian furniture. Wondering if you all had some recommendations. Not looking for insanely expensive but I am obviously willing to spend a bit more to buy Canadian. Thanks

Decor-rest furniture
Little bit more expensive than your typical crap from your big box stores but you’re paying for solid wood construction and every piece is custom made to order. They don’t have a pre-made inventory.
We’ve had 3 couches fall apart on us over the past 20 years and got fed up with it and told our sales person exactly that. They led us straight to the Decor-rest line. The showroom had an armchair that was only half upholstered on display. It was heavy and you could see all the bracing and supports in it.
I don’t think I’ve seen a negative review.

Depends on where you are and what type of furniture you want. There are a few places around St Jacob's, Elmira and Waterloo areas where you can design furniture made by Mennonites. Theres a place in Morriston (Guelph Line, South of 401) that makes nice stuff. Home Hardware's main store in St Jacobs has nice furniture (believe it or not) but I'm not sure where its actually made.

We’ve been searching for chairs for our breakfast table. We linger at this table for long periods of time so comfort is priority. We want an upholstered back as well as seat which limits choices. Most cheap chairs we see in the stores are so hard as rocks. I don’t want to buy online because we need to sit in the chairs and I don’t want to be shipping things back. Most Wayfair choices look cheap anyway. It seems as though you have to get upwards of $700 per chair for anything comfortable. We saw some from Canadel and Woodbridge that seem well made. Anyone know of anymore options that are $1000 or under?
You should absolutely be able to find something sub 1000. Where do live? Do you have local stores you could try? Perhaps people here can tell you about their experiences with the quality of furniture that’s available to you locally.
Canadel seems an expected price for the style and something fully upholstered with wood frame, for domestically produced. Only thing is the fabric... I think for that price, you should be getting Maharam, Kvadrat or an equivalent rather than a generic. No microfibers or full synthetics.
I normally deal in European modern and similar chairs will be 30-50% more because of import and designer status.
As for cushioning, I suggest that a good dining chair is going to have a firm seat - if it's soft and plush when you sit in it, it's going to pack down and bottom out in 30 mins. Don't be fooled by the initial sit.

This place didn’t even show up in my searches (I recently was in the market for a couch). My girlfriend actually found out about them in a reddit COMMENT that was 4 years old out of all places.
Yes, they are pricier than some options from Ikea (Sweden), Brick (CA), Structube (CA), Leon’s (CA) but are at price parity with places like Urban Barn, EQ3.
The construction, cushion fill, and textile is FAR superior. I’m talking like orders of magnitude.
The furniture is made around the corner from their showroom, which is the second floor an unsuspecting office building located on Annacis Island in Delta, BC.
Don’t know about where they source their construction materials and textiles, but, 100% Canadian and made to order is good enough for me.
Anyways, just wanted to spread the word. These guys are killer.
edit: I wanted to add that they also allow you to pay through e-transfer and they pass off the savings on the payment processing fees to you by providing a 3% discount. At these price scales it is pretty sweet!
