Despite having a population that is similar to California, there are only 13 active NFL players from Canada. For reference, Kansas has 14 active NFL players despite having 1/12th the population of Canada. Unlike every other country, Canadian football is actually older than American football, so it's not like the US simply has a longer tradition of playing the sport.
I know there are plenty of guys that end up in the CFL, and that Canada doesn't have quite the same high school and college systems that we do in the US. But there must be something else I'm missing here. Canada is too large of a football playing country to not have more players in the NFL.
