Hey everyone!
I'm just getting into photography and really excited to start this journey. I’ve always admired beautiful, sharp, creative photos, and now I want to learn how to take some of my own. I’m a total beginner, so I’m looking for a Canon camera that’s good for someone starting out, but that also gives me room to grow as I learn more.
I’d love to take amazing pictures of landscapes, everyday life, maybe even some portraits and animals. I’m open to DSLRs or mirrorless – just not sure what’s best for a beginner in 2025.
A few questions:
What Canon camera would you recommend for a beginner?
Is it handy to be able to connect with your phone to transfer via app?
Is mirrorless the way to go now, or is a DSLR still worth it?
Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks so much in advance 🙏📸

Another vote for r50. I got it as a beginner in bird photography and can't sing it's praises enough. Light, cheap, powerful, and most importantly mirrorless. Kit lens is kinda stinky though so I recommend anything except the 18-45. Maybe get the body without a lens and the sigma 18-50 if you can afford it? or the RF 18-150!
