If you can vibe with it, I'd pitch you a used 5D Classic from eBay. It definitely has its own flavor. Very early digital, almost filmic. I have one. It's a lot of fun. But, to be honest, I'd hate having it be my only digital camera.

Hi, I am a broke college kid who loves taking photos! I have a cheap Amazon point and shoot 44 mp camera currently, which works as expected. I want something that can take better quality photos, especially in darker environments. Can anyone suggest some options or ideas to find a digital camera under $200 that would fit my needs?

The camera you have that’s “44mp”, is that one of those brand-less cameras? If so, you don’t actually have those specs. Those cameras use the same ones they put into cheap phones. To actually answer, look for second-hand. There’s a few Olympus MFT Cameras that are really good at that price range, you might also want to look into some slighter older point and shoots or DSLRS from about 15 years ago that are still pretty good. For lenses, if you need them, antique malls, eBay, marketplace, and some cameras stores will all have heavily discounted vintage and lower end modern lenses. It’s all about trial and error to see what you like. If you pick up something you don’t like, find out why you don’t like it, sell it, and get something that fits your needs better. Photography is always about the journey and TONS of practice.

I’m going into my senior year of high school and was looking for a good quality digital camera that is affordable!
Some qualities i’m looking for is definitely that digital camera look. I’m pretty sure tweaking camera settings is what is behind good contrast in the background of the picture, but a camera that does a good job at that is also something i’m looking for.
Some cameras i like so far are the: Sony Cybershot DSC W80, Canon power shot sx200, and the canon elph 360.
Let me know if any of those are good, or any other recommendations you may have! Thank you!

Do you need it to be compact? You could get much better results with an older dslr but obviously will be pretty chunky compared to the cameras you mentioned.

Canon powershot G9, G10, G11 depends on your budget. Or the Nikon equivalent if that’s more your brand. They’ll give you plenty of control if you want or you can put it in auto and just click away.

I'd say a rebel T4i, can pick one up for $150-190.
