First week with my R3, some thoughts coming from Sony
Try changing your AF case settings to be less aggressive. I use case 2 on my R7 which is for ignoring new subjects that come into frame. I also set the two sliders to -2. If you ever go to do really fast action you'll need to change it but for majority of things I find this works well More on reddit.com

July 30, 2024R3 or 1DX III?
Get the R3. It handles RF and EF glass (with the adapter), has a BSI stacked sensor with excellent high ISO and low light performance, and a fast shooting speed. The mechanical shutter speed is a little slower than the 1dx Mark 3 but the electronic speed is faster. Unless you really need the extra 8 fps of the 1dx mkIII mechanical shutter I would go with the R3. More on reddit.com

It sounds like for your use case the Eos R could be a good fit. Battery life will not be as good as a Dslr like the 5DIV though. What kind of lenses are you using with your current setup, EF-S or EF? On the comparison to the R6 you could possibly score one during Black Friday for a great deal, I think they were selling Canon refurbished ones for $1300-$1400 earlier this year so I imagine we will see similar deals. It really depends on if you’d prefer the higher 30mp sensors of the R or 5DIV or you’d be okay with the 20 on the R6. More on reddit.com
