I have an R5 and an R7. I disagree with the R7 folks here- I would pick the R5 any day. It is just a better camera with better autofocus, iso performance etc. More on reddit.com

November 25, 2022what is the R1 doing that the R3 isn't?
Larry Chen showed a scenario the R1 did. The car was about to enter a bend. It was in view and locked on. It disappeared behind a huge boulder and emerged from the other side of the bend. The AF was still locked in on the car as it emerged from behind the boulder. As if the AF anticipated it would emerge at that time. It wasn't like the AF stayed the beginning of bend and then snapped to it when it emerged. More on reddit.com

July 23, 2024I just shot 2169% of the 620 shot CIPA battery rating on my R3 in 5 hours, with 5% battery remaining.
You will probably get close to CIPA rating if you followed their exact procedure though. Edit: But to add, 13k frames is very impressive on a single battery for any camera. More on reddit.com

I have an upcoming event which will require nearly continuous shooting (20-30 frames per minute).
I’ve read the R3 battery is rated for 320 shots per full charge. That’s not going to get me through the day. That’s less than an hour.
I’ve read the newer R bodies can be powered by USB-C. Is this acceptable and will this get me through multiple hours of shooting for this event?
Any specific wattage or specs I need to look at procuring?

Hey there! Two full charged R3 batteries should get you through the day – the 320 shots estimation is very conservative. I had a day with over 9000 shots one two batteries, you should be fine. If you are worried – you should ask the rental place about extra batteries, since USB-C charging is tricky, I'm unsure if the camera can run while charging,
