RP is a very good camera. its an entry level full frame mirrorless. the 80D is a very good crop sensor DSLR. Equivalent quality in full frame sensor mirrorless would be the R6 Mk II. R5 would be a step up. Equivalent quality in crop sensor mirrorless would be the R7 90D is a slight upgrade from 80D but its a DSLR. Canon is de-emphasizing DSLR ecosystem. If it's in your budget, mirrorless is probably more future proof. FWIW, I have the R7 and R5 and am quite pleased with both cameras. R7 might be a little better for birds in flight R5 is a little better for portraits and landscapes but in both instances, the difference is subtle. More on reddit.com

I am using my Canon EOS RP as a webcam for my Twitch stream. What you will need: The camera (doh) Mini-HDMI to HDMI Cable Canon DC Coupler DR-E18 Canon AC Adapter AC-E6N (Switching power supply, works worldwide and also with pretty much any other Canon DC Coupler. For example get the DR-E6 coupler for a Canon EOS R / 5D IV) (Edit: the two items are also available as a kit Canon ACK-E18 , although it seems to have low availability right now) Elgato Cam Link 4K (I'm using the old Cam Link, it's discontinued, but might still be available. Only does 1080p60 max. It works on Mac according to the specs and will get recognised as a Webcam, so it's very easy to add to any program that uses a webcam.) There is no additional software needed for the Elgato Cam Link. At least not on Windows, I assume it's the same on Mac as webcams are natively supported by both OS. If you want a program to stream, I would go with OBS. It's free and has a ton of great features. I wouldn't use StreamLabs OBS as that kind of locks you into the StreamLabs ecosystem. Important to keep in mind: the Cam Link does NOT have an internal encoder, so your CPU will need to encode the signal. Make sure you have a fast enough CPU (see the Elgato Page). Keep in mind mobile CPUs (usually U moniker such as i5 5200U) are less powerfull than their desktop counterparts. Canon USA seems to have a 20% sale going on right now, but check around if you can find better prices. I wouldn't go for third party couplers, as some can cause issues and if they do damage the camera you might lose the warrany. The EOS RP does not overheat with my ambient temperature of 24°C even after 6h of outputting 1080p60 over HDMI. Here's how my setup looks. This is my twitch channel , check any of the newer VOD's out, either start or end of stream to get a feel for the quality, as I'm using it in fullscreen at those times. Also, good lighting > good camera. Invest first in lighting. I'm using Nanoleaf panels to be able to have a nice even with light and can also run effects (I have for example a disco light and a red alert light effect for raids).
