best use of Canon RP for video
Video capability of RP
Canon Eos RP - Anyone have opinions?
Great 1080p, full frame look and depth of field. Great auto focus.
If you NEED 4k (and no one in youtube ever needed that) them it is not for you.
But for the price it is pretty damn Great. Very hard to beat it for value.
Does it has limitations? Sure, but any camera in that price point will have them.

I'd go for R7 if possible. Even a R10 is probably better than the other two options...

Hey all
my friend wants me to record a concert, I've got a Canon RP. I almost exclusively use it for photos so I need advice on the best use for it.
Do I need the webcam kit? (plug in battery, USB cable?)
Should I just run it raw w/o anything plugged into it and hope for the best?
I definitely want at least 4k/30 (edited from 60 my bad). My memory card says it can do over 2 hours on it (it's a big one) so I should be good there, right?
Im' running it right now for a 15 minute test to see battery drain/quality/etc.
Thanks in advance for your tips.

I'd like to here comments from your own experience if you have/had RP. Further, is the 24-105 4.0-7.1 STM good for video? Thanks.
The 4k on the RP has no usable autofocus, if you need AF: stick to 1080p.

It's a bit frustrating for video.
In default 1080p has great dual pixel AF, EIS and zero crop. It's really easy to shoot video in 1080p mode. But it looks kind of soft. 1080p Video from my older Panasonic m4/3 cams looks noticeably sharper. Even with sharp primes or L lenses.
4K mode video looks really nice and sharp. MUCH better than 1080p. But it has a massive 1.7x crop. So the widest you can get from that 24-105 in 4K mode is about 40mm equivalent. Forget shooting indoors with that crop. Many people end up buying EF-S lenses like 10-18 or 18-55 as a cheap way to get around the crop factor.
And to make it even worse, the dual pixel AF doesn't work in 4K mode. So you pretty much have to manual focus. Also, 4K is only possible in the specific video mode on the dial. The quick access video record button only does 1080p.
For the price, there are a lot of better options if video is a priority. Most similarly priced crop cameras will do better video quality. Possibly even some 1" compacts.
Gordon Laing posted some video samples in 4K and 1080p. You can see how much softer the 1080p is as well as how huge the difference in crop factor is.
