They haven’t confirmed the release of anything yet. The one that’s been heavily hinted at as being next (from the canonrumors/canonwatch/etc websites), is the R7 - which will supposedly be a crop sensor RF mount. But with the chip shortages and supply problems, it’s really anyone’s guess as to when any of these cameras will be released. More on reddit.com

If you're not going to go with the RP then look at the R8. The RP was my first full frame and held me down for 3 years while I learned a lot. I've had the R8 for about 4 months now. Both are great beginner cameras in the R lineup. More on reddit.com

You can’t take pictures without a camera. RP is still the most affordable full frame Mirrorless camera (new) on the market. I’ve used it for over three years. I’m moving to an R6II. But had I waited for the perfect “forever” camera that I could afford, I’d be missing out on over three years of very enjoyable use on my RP. I’m keeping the 24-240 that came with it. A $900 lens. When I look at it that way, I lost about $50 on the RP on trade in. $50 is a pretty cheap rental fee for over three years use. More on reddit.com

Love mine! Been using it since it came out. But it really depends on your usage and needs. It’s not the fastest at autofocus, but for the biggest drawback is the slow burst speed - it peaks out around 4 shots per second as far as I know which means you may not capture something at just the right moment if you’re going ham on the burst photos. But otherwise, 10/10 recommend if you can get it for a good deal. Pretty darn good sensor, decent low light performance. The newer mirrorless cameras will blow it out of the water but I haven’t felt the need to upgrade yet. I highly recommend at least a RF 50mm f1.8 lens - use it a lot with mine. But others can speak to other lens recommendations! I believe the R8 is a new update to the RP which will have many quality of life improvements, so you may want to look into that. I wouldn’t pay full price for a new RP at this point, but a good used one for a good price, definitely worth it IMO. More on reddit.com
