My M50 came in and I love it. Very solid, very lightweight.
My only gripe is for longer shoots, once I hit a certain point, it stops recording video and I have to restart. Is there any way to make it not stop?

Other bodies bypass the limit with external recorders. None of the M bodies show on Atomos website https://www.atomos.com/compatible-cameras?product=ninja-v Does it not do a clean feed?

The limit is primarily based on the file size. Recording at 1080p will get you about 11 minutes of recording time before the file size hits 4GB, at which point recording will end. Using lower frame rates and resolutions will extend that, to a maximum of 29 minutes 59 seconds. EDIT: scored out the incorrect information; thanks u/at_ML The solution normally suggested is to use Magic Lantern but I don't think it's available for M50. The alternative is either to shoot shorter clips (up to 30 minutes each) and join them in post, or to invest in an EOS C-series body or the EOS R5C. They're more expensive but they don't have the 30 minute limit. EDIT: Some other people will use the HDMI output from the camera connected to a computer's video capture card. The M50 does not record the video itself, in this instance, it will simply stream the output to the computer and the computer will record it. This requires a "Clean HDMI Output" (i.e. the camera is configured so that none of the focusing point squares, textual information (aperture, shutter speed, etc) or histogram data are overlaid on top of the video output. I've never tried this myself, but it's a workaround to the 30 minute limit (it will probably require running the camera off a dummy battery though).

It also breaks my concentration. I'd rather have another g85 or get the cheaper gx85 as a 2nd cam. Even the older g7 would be good. If i am on a tight budget, I'd get either one of these. With the hack, they don't have the 30min limit (the g85 has no 30min limit).

Hi there! I'm new to my M50 but I have a gig recording a 90 minute play tomorrow. I know there's generally about a 30min limit on video, does anyone have tips for how I can bypass that? Should I just be ready to press record again every 30 minutes? I have 2 additional batteries as well but I'm not sure how I could change the batteries quickly mid-shoot. Thank you!

I don't know if there's a way to bypass the timer, but plays usually are performed in acts, and there should be time for set changes and such. Have you seen this play and how it's laid out? You should have plenty of time to stop and start video.

I don't own the m50.... but I believe the time is there for the same reason as the r5 and r6... over heating. The last thing you want to do is burn it out. My recommendation is to do a practice run with it running and recording in your kitchen, living room or something... somewhere you can keep an eye out. I'd never try and attempt something new like that without trying at home first!!
