I would say you’re pretty close. The R3 is a new line. The 1Dx equivalent for the R series has yet to emerge. The R6 is closest to the 6D as you noted but way more capable than the 6D was relative to its time. The R7 is closest to the 7D and the R10 is a mash up of the xxD line and xxxD Rebel line. More capable than the xxxD Rebels but not as pricey as the xxD line. The R100 is closest to the xxxxD series Rebels. Waiting for others to correct me. More on reddit.com

Keep it. I have an R and primarily use it with adapted lenses. It works perfectly fine for said use. I'm sure ppl will chime in with negatives, like "oh the dynamic range sucks" "it doesn't have ibis" "only shoots like 3 frames per second". Nit pickers I say. Been away from photography for quite some time and recently have jumped back into it to not forget my skills from years past. Looking at the new mirrorless cameras that they're quite nifty and a LOT of advances have been made with both body and the new RF lenses. I shoot with a 5DMK3 and was looking at the R equivalent and it would seem like the R3 = 1Dx series, R5 = 5D series, R6 = 6D series and R7 and R10 = xxD line and R100 = rebel series?
Did I get that right? I'm floored by what these new bodies can do and while I won't be giving up my trusty 5DMK3 anytime soon that its just cool to see the strides that Canon/Nikon and alike have made.

It's kind of hard to match the EF bodies to R bodies one to one. I would think R5 is 5D equivalent.. and thought the R6 was the 6D equivalent.. until they released R8, which is an entry level FF R body, which I think is closer to 6D than what R6 is. 1D equivalent body will come in an R1 line, which hasn't been announced yet. So R3 is somewhere in between 1D and 5D. R7 is pretty much 7D counterpart (less worse build).. R50 is similar to M50 line.. R100.. again.. M/Rebel series.. R and RP is kind of a bridge ML body, before Canon started giving proper number series, but at the time, R was 5DIV equivalent, and RP was 6DII equivalent.. going by the similar sensor used. I doubt there will be RII or RPII in that sense..

June 19, 2025 - Okay enough about that. I'm not as resistant to moving into a mirrorless body now. I am considering an R-10 (still) and R7. Either one would be using the Canon EF-R Adapter. I'm not investing into new glass anytime soon. I know the R7 is higher featured, weather resistant (had it with the EOS 1n), dual card slots, and 32.5 vs 24 mp, etc, things I never really had before with film.
