Hello, I'm a music producer getting into videography to produce some videos for my music. I'm most likely gonna buy the canon EOS r6 which has capability of 4k up to 60fps and 1080p 120fps. I want to shoot slow motion, but at the same time I want to upload good quality content on youtube since I want to produce music videos. I see that most videos on Youtube are uploaded at 1080p, so I don't know if I should shoot on 4k or 1080p. will it affect the quality if I shoot 1080p instead of converting 4k to 1080? I see that some videographers have amazing cameras and end up converting to 1080, excuse my ignorance but I don't understand why. Is there anything you guys would recommend to record good looking music videos? I was considering saving for the r5 which will be able to record on 120fps 4k even 8k 30fps, but I don't know if I really need it.
Thank you so much, any help is extremely appreciated!
Hi, and thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
I have a Canon R6MK2 which is able to record 4K 60 FPS at 10-bit HDR at 4:2:2 chroma subsampling. I want to be able to record at this quality of chroma subsampling directly into my Windows PC.
The camera does support this 4:2:2 when recording directly to memory card, and I assume it also outputs that same chroma subsampling via HDMI.
At the moment I have an Elgato 4K60 PRO MK 2 which is able to record the 4K 60FPS at 10-bit HDR, but no matter what I try, I cannot get it to capture the 4:2:2 chroma subsampling.
I have tried OBS but that seems to peak at 4:2:0 chroma subsampling, and I've tried XSplit but that appears to be even worse than OBS.
So do you have any ideas on how I can record the full 4:2:2 via HDMI output to my PC? What software do I need? Do I need a better capture card?
Thank you!
I know on my old Canon that shooting 4K couldn't go beyond 30 minutes or so per a recording. Does that limitation exist on this model as well!? Thanks in advance :)
