R5 and 6 still both have severe limitations in video; 30 min record limit. 7 min at 120p. Poor exposure monitoring tools. Archaic WB system. Asinine menu system locking out selections if you don't do them in the correct order, and not telling you why they are locked. Also expect glacial editing speeds unless you have a m1\2 max or 11\12th gen Intel. No hardware acceleration for the h.265 422 from AMD or Nvidia. Apparently the r6 has no video preset modes, only stills presets. Stills, I love my R5. More on reddit.com

Do you think Canon will release a firmware update for the Mark II to include select new features (e.g., C-Log 2 profile for better color matching across cameras)? It would help keep the lineup cohesive without forcing immediate upgrades.
Or will they reserve everything for the Mark III to encourage switching?

The answer to that question is easy - NO. Canon have a very long history of not adding any beneficial functionality via firmware - in fact the last one remove functionality for some models.
