Trying to see if I'm making the right decision going with the R6 Mark II.
Get the R6II, you don't need high resolution as people look at real estate pictures on their phones and computers, don't need to blow them up to large prints. More on reddit.com

r6ii cons and pros
Pros: Full-Frame Sensor with IBIS Its inherited AF from the higher tier R3 but somehow has a higher burst rate at 40 FPS vs 30 FPS on the R3 Has excellent good video and photo capability which suits your needs of being a hybrid camera Has Clog3 for extra dynamic range if you want to get more control for video Has 6k RAW recording capabilities when recording to an external recorder Cons: Because of the higher burst rate, it is only 24 MP, but for the most part this is plenty for most people RF mount is still limited and you are inlinced to get pricier native RF options to get the most out of your camera (inherent in the RF ecosystem actually) Can be larger/heavier for some but this can be a pro if you like wide grips Non-full sized HDMI port is prone to damage, assuming you are using an external recorder The R8 exists, inheriting all the benefits but in a smaller body and lacking IBIS and some other features More on reddit.com

Finally ordered my dream camera, the R6 mark ii, couldn't be happier! What's your experience with this camera?
Works like a dream. I had an RP before and the improvement in both autofocus and low light performance is incredible. I think it can even push your lenses further, which might be a big advantage if you want more compact lenses, or just better overall image quality. More on reddit.com

r/canon on Reddit: Trying to see if I'm making the right decision going with the R6 Mark II.
November 2, 2023 -

Hey guys!

So finally, after grinding the past few years saving uo cash from my Real Estate Photography gig, I'm in the market to get a new camera! I'm incredibly excited, but also incredibly indecisive on what camera I'm going to go with and can use some advice.

Currently, I am looking at the R6 Mark II. It's the camera my boss uses and one he swears by as the camera to get not only for our Real Estate work, but for my portrait work I do on the side as well! As of now I'm using the 5D Mark III I've had since 2017. It looks like an incredible camera, and I borrowed his older R6 when I had to send my 5D in for a shutter replacement, and I really enjoyed using it as well!

The only thing I'm stuck on, is making sure I'm not making a mistake not going for the R5 and shelling out the extra thousand. I was looking at that as well, and through my research they are almost identical except for the megapixels, which is what I'm stuck on. The R6 Mark II would be a few megapixels higher than my 5D, which already produced excellent images, at 24.2 but I know the 40+ megapixels of R5 sounds amazing as well. The trade off of that is the much larger file sizes, which, currently with my line of work would really clog my data haha! My boss has been telling me that 24.2 is more than enough for portrait work and for the real estate work. It's just hard not to romanticize the bigger option haha! The trade off of that is the much larger file sizes, which, currently with my line of work would really clog my data haha!

My goal in the future is to make portraits my main gig, but as of now, RE photography is paying the bills so I'd be an idiot to right now walk away from that! And since I've produced excellent portraits with my 5D with its 22 megapixel sensor, I should also be getting excellent results with the R6II hopefully right? I don't shoot wildlife or sports (except the occasional T-Ball game for my nephew), so I don't really do heavy cropping, which is a big thing I see in terms of choosing between these two bodies. I'm not sure if I'm obsessing too much over megapixel count!

Another big factor of course, is the price. Just bought the 14-35 RF lens, so now I just gotta pick a body. Seeing how, besides the MP count, the camera are incredibly similar, the price point of the R6II sounds more appealing in terms of budgeting. I just want to make sure it's the right choice for what I do since I'm going to have this camera for years to come!

So to anyone that may have been in my situation, would you guys recommend getting the R6II? What advice would you have to help me make my decision? Thank you!!

Canon EOS R6 Mark II
The canon r6 and the mk II variant are wonderful cameras, and whilst they might be considered enthusiasts cameras they are totally fine professionally as well, making great back up bodies to the R5 etc, excellent for social photography, weddings Etc. And although we tend to perhaps look down on 20 megapixels... The EOS R6 II arrives in one of the most competitive parts of the market, facing off against some very capable competition. We think it rises to the challenge.
