Boundless Creativity: Canon Announces the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Hybrid Full-Frame Camera | Canon U.S.A., Inc.
November 2, 2022 - MELVILLE, NY, November 2, 2022 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the launch of the new EOS R6 Mark II camera body, Canon’s new hybrid full-frame camera, and the first EOS R series full-frame mirrorless to take the step into the second generation.
Is the Canon EOS R6 Mark II actually better than the EOS 5D MARK IV?
While the 5D is built like a tank and the r6 is a bit more plasticky, i don't think it's a big issue at all. You take photos with it and (hopefully) don't knock it over someone's head. The 5D has a bit more resolution, but a stronger antialias filter, so sharpness-wise, they are really comparable. other than that, the r6m2 is clearly the superior camera: No need to micro adjust fast primes because of the missing mirror assembly Fast eye tracking autofocus great movie capabilities higher speed bursts and pre-burst capabilities EDIT: Better high iso performance I don't know where you got the idea, that the 5D supports more lenses, but the opposite is true: almost all EF lenses can be adapted to the R6 and work flawlessly. Even better than on a DSLR most of the time, since front- and backfocus isn't an issue anymore. Plus you can use the new RF lenses, most of which don't have an equal on EF mount. And for the price point on the rf lenses: simply adapt old ef glas for starters. I got some kick-ass EF primes for really cheap, since everyone is migrating to the RF lenses. and the only gripe with thirdparty lenses (af accuracy) is simply gone. The only downside is the added length because of the adapter, but that's not an issue for me personally. More on reddit.com

r/canon on Reddit: At this moment, does it make sense to buy the R6 Mark II or wait for the R6 Mark III?
January 9, 2025 -
I'm considering getting the Canon R6 Mark II, but as you all know there are rumors that the Canon R6 Mark III might be announced as early as the first quarter of this year. Based on your experience, how long does Canon typically take to make new models available worldwide after an announcement? Do you think the price of the R6 Mark III will be around the same as the current non-discounted price of the Mark II? If you’ve faced a similar decision, what did you do?
In my country, the R6 Mark II is currently available on sale as a bundle with the RF 24-105mm F4 IS USM lens for $3,200.

March 26, 2025 - Who knows? When I bought my R6 II in June 2024 the R6 was still readily available, even though the R6 II had been available since November 2022. Some new R6 kits are still available at some retailers. I would guess a lot of people are awaiting any markdown.
