I have an EOS R5 and EOS R6 Mark II, I use both for Video. Think about your use case. What will you be shooting? If you're shooting 1080 HD for YouTube content, or 4K30 you likely won't over heat ever, even outside in the sun. But, if you're shooting 4K60, long format, you may overheat. In a recent video shoot, which was long format, 4K60, I was shooting indoors, in a fairly confined space, with about a hundred audience members. I got an overheat notice (it goes up in bars like a thermometer). But all had to do was turn it off for less thana minute and the warnings went away. This happened several times but the camera never actually overheated ever. The original R6 is still a fantastic camera despite being superseded. Most of the significant upgrades in the Mk II version pertain to video use—there are only minor differences between stills shooting with the R6 and R6 II. Unless you're planning extensive video use, there's probably not much to be gained in spending the extra GBP1200 on an R6 II. More on reddit.com

Canon R8 and then spend money on glass. It has the same exact sensor as the R6ii for almost half the price. If you’re not a professional (even if you are), the R8 is hard to beat. If you have no lenses, get ready to buckle up, because RF is expensive as hell. I only own one RF lens, and it’s not even made by Canon. Invest in solid EF glass with the extra money. They're both great cameras. The R6 has the better build, IBIS, dual cards, and the option to use a fully mechanical shutter, more controls (amongst other things), but none of these features are essential for making nice photos, they just help at times. The R8 has a better sensor, a better AF system, and is smaller and lighter; likewise its batteries and charger are smaller and lighter, so it makes for a more compact travel option. Most people would say get the R6, I tend to lean more towards the R8 myself as it has one of Canon's most capable sensors in a very compact body, and as someone who also likes take photos when travelling, I value that a bit more than IBIS and dual card slots.
