Really having a hard time deciding between the Canon R6 and the Fujifilm X-T4. Shooting travel/adventure videos (Jay Alvarez/Sam Kolder type stuff [don't knock me lol]) Really like the look of the fuji camera but am concerned that the autofocus just isn't good enough. I can shoot manual just fine but there are lots of situations when I need to hand my camera to a friend and have them shoot me. Also concerned that the Rsc-2 won't support the X-T4 as well? Current cameras - 5d mk III and 6d mk II.. NO I DONT WANT A SONY I HATE THE COLORS!! Any advice would be much appreciated!!

r/Cameras on Reddit: Sony A7iii vs Fuji XT4 vs Canon R6
April 28, 2023 -

Having the hardest time deciding between these 3 cameras for hybrid work and personal use.

My use case is personal and professional photography and videography. I expect to be doing everything from portraiture and product photos to landscapes to video advertisements with this camera.

I was solid on the A7iii until I started looking into lenses. On average, a good FF lens for the Sony costs around $1k. and my budget is tight. I'd like to be able to afford more than one lens. I just can't decide if FF is completely necessary for me.

Would it be more cost effective to just get a Canon and adapt old DSLR lenses to it? Or downgrade to APSC to afford more lenses? I decided FF initially, among other reasons, to "buy it nice or buy it twice."

Starting to feel so overwhelmed when I was sure all I needed was the A7iii to call it a day. But the lenses are really turning me off. Any help is massively appreciated

April 27, 2021 - I own the R6 and the X-T4. For low light the R6 is an absolute BEAST. It blows the X-T4 out of the water in that area. As well as Eye AF (and animal eye) and overall AF speed and accuracy. The R6 may seem bulky but its incredibly light. Not as light as the Fujifilm but its lighter than your 6d.

Hi All!

Has anybody here tried the Canon EOS R6 and the Fujifilm X-T3 or X-T4? I’m trying to find some comparison images between the RAW files. I am currently a Fuji shooter, but have found that there can be too much noise at even just 3200 ISO. This can be neat for certain shots, and I generally love it for my Halloween photography, but for weddings not so much.

I also want to see the overall difference between them like colour, detail, dynamic range, etc...

Handling I’ll have to wait and see once a display model is available at a local retailer. I have tiny hands, and the RP felt amazing in hand, but not sure how the R6 will feel.

Thanks!

r/fujifilm on Reddit: Fuji XT5/XT4/ or Canon R6ii?
February 27, 2023 -

Hey everyone! I'm having a hell of a time deciding what to snag for a back up camera body. I use a Canon R5 for the bulk of my work which is portrait/ wedding work and I adore it from a professional workhorse point of view. And for the longest time I backed that up with a Canon Mark Iv to be on the safe side. However now that I have broken into the mirrorless market I don't see myself going back so I finally sold off the Mark IV and now am facing this decision.

Obviously the Canon r6 Mark ii makes sense with me being mainly a canon boy, but that was until I snagged myself a Fuji X100v which has just blown my damn mind. I love the colors, the feel and the overall low profile compared the my chunky R5. So with this new love of Fuji brings the XT5 and the XT4 to the option table. The XT5 calls out to me as a photographer and as someone who loves the latest and greatest. However, I've started dipping my toes into hybrid coverage with video work on wedding days which the XT5 doesnt seem to be suited for so the XT4 looks promising but I could just use the R5 for video and XT5 for photo..

....I just don't know lol Sorry for this word dump but I'm hoping ya'll may have some input. Should I stick with Canon as a back up or should I mix it up with a Fuji XT5 or 4 to add some spice to the pot. Money isnt an issue, I've budgeted near $3000 so all options are obtainable in that regard. Thank you all in advance!

September 2, 2022 - Keep in mind that the X-T4 is not gonna match the AF speed of an R6. If you've ever shot with an EOS R, it's kinda at that level. Test things out before you go out. The 56 itself is not a fast lens.

May 27, 2024 - For me part of why I stuck with Canon was the cost of selling my canon gear and moving to fuji or upgrading to Canon mirrorless. I had a fair amount of canon lenses at the time and it ended up being noticeably less expensive to move to an R6 vs. a Fuji X-T4.

r/WeddingPhotography on Reddit: Sony a7iv vs Fuji xh2s vs Canon r6 II - what to choose for hybrid shooting (especially Photo).
April 13, 2023 -

Hello world, I am about to buy a new camera for my work as a wedding photographer, I am migrating from a Canon 6d mk I and I am a little undecided between any of these big beasts that are the Sony a7IV, Canon R6, Fuji xH2S, could you give me some feedback regarding your experience with these cameras and in situations with respect to color, the dynamic range, the ISO, and the focus, in fujifilm a little more in the follow focus where I have heard very divided opinions on whether it is good or bad or that it is very slow, and more with respect to the lenses/lenses and in my case, I am looking for a little more that efficiency, however, any of them without a doubt is better than a 6D. Another side that leaves me a little doubt is the cost and the possibility of acquiring good lenses with a good focusing speed, Sony, Rokinon, Viltrox, Sigma, Canon, it is a little overwhelming to have so many options. Thank you for your opinions and support. Any comments that can help me make a decision are welcome.

The Fuji system is going to be the best bang for the buck. I wouldn't listen to what most people have to say regarding the XH2S and it's autofocus capabilities. Is it worse than the competition? Yes. Does that mean it's bad? No. If you're picking a tool for your business the fuji systems price to performance can't be beat, especially in the wedding industry IMO. Most clients won't be able to tell the difference between images from a crop sensor vs a full frame. I'd suggest renting the cameras to try them out and see what works for you best.

I have the Sony a7iv and the Fujifilm X-H2s. For photo, the a7iv is a beast. The big issue with the X-H2s is the lens selection. Fuji's newer lenses with the LM focus motors are great. The non-LM lenses struggle to keep up with the camera and are pretty bad at video. I do feel like Fujifilm is catching up, but they still have a bit more work to do. With Sony, the native lenses/Sigma/Samyang (new gen)/Tamron all perform very well. The a7iv does have some issues with LED walls and banding in video. You can work around it, but the X-H2s doesn't struggle as much thanks to the stacked sensor. Knowing what I know now, if I was starting from scratch, I'd choose the Sony a7iv for hybrid. The ergonomics of switching between photo and video is easier, and the lens selection and reliability helps me remain confident. Canon RF mount doesn't/didn't allow for third party auto-focus lenses which is why I didn't consider them.

r/AskPhotography on Reddit: Fuji xt5 with expensive primes vs canon r6 mark ii with f4 zoom lens
November 7, 2022 -

For the same price as a canon full frame with an f4 L zoom lens (24-105 f4) I can get a Fuji xt5 with two expensive primes(18mm f1.4 and 56mm f1.2) both around $3600. Now is the benefit of going full frame worth it over getting expensive primes right away. I can always save up for expensive canon lenses however those are quite a lot more expensive. I feel like the Fuji with higher megapixels and sharper primes with produce sharper results. Or, is full frame worth it if I have to sacrifice with less expensive zoom lens.

r/AskPhotography on Reddit: Canon EOS R or Fujifilm XT-4
February 8, 2023 -

Hello, I have few questions:) I am changing my Sony A7 system to a new. I need to decide which system will be better for me in long-time perspective, because I don’t want to change system again…

  1. I consider buying Canon EOS R (limited budget - I have to buy lenses too) or Fujifilm XT-3/XT-4. I mostly shoot portraits and street, almost no video. I know that it’s APS-C vs full frame comparison, but I wonder is it really that much difference, many people of fuji say that it isn’t that much in terms of low light shooting. Especially when you don’t compare side by side. Autofocus - opinions are divided, now I don’t know the difference between these two, so please help me which is better. What I like in Fuji is that all of the dials are on top and film simulation recipes (people say that JPEGs straight out of the camera are very good, that they don’t need to edit that much in post-production). The retro vibe is nice too 🤪. What I like in Canon it’s the variety of cheap, good lenses (EF) and the second hand availability. The RF system is more futureproof than the fuji I think.

  2. If the Canon wins I will have to buy lenses. I use the 85mm focal length mostly. I don’t have that much money to buy the RF 85 1.2L. So I was thinking about the EF lenses. Is it good idea to buy EF 85mm 1.4L IS USM with EF-RF adapter? I rejected the 1.2 because worse AF and image stabilization in 1.4 is welcomed. Or maybe is it better to buy EF 1.8 first, because it’s cheap and then collect more money to buy RF 85 1.2L?

I need your opinions!:)

The original EOS R is a few pegs down from the excellent AF of the later R3/5/6/7/10. I would say it might be closer than you think. The Fujis definitely have a much cooler vibe and user experience IMO but I would hesitate to call it better. That's preference more than anything. Fujis are pretty limited in the long fast telephoto area so if you ever get into sports, wildlife, or anything that needs a fast lens longer than 200mm you're kinda screwed.

Real question is why are you swapping off Sony? System swaps aren't exactly a spur-of-the-moment decision so what don't you like about the system you're shooting?

I mostly shoot portraits and street, almost no video.

. . . Photography isn’t my job, so I don’t earn money from photos and the camera won’t pay for itself. I am student so I can’t afford better body.

I'd consider downscaling more and getting a used Fuji X-T2 or X-T20.

I use the 85mm focal length mostly.

Get a Fuji 35mm f2 lens to start with, which is close to 50mm on a full-frame camera and is good for portraits and general-purpose shooting. When you save more money, a Fuji 56mm f1.2, which is an 85mm equivalent. Hot tip: there's a Viltrox 56mm f1.4 for Fuji that only costs $300.

I lean toward the X-T2 for the better specs and dual-card slots, which are good if you plan to get into paid work. If photography is strictly a hobby and you prefer portability, then I'd lean toward the X-T20.

If you do get the X-T20, I highly recommend watching the early videos of Omar Gonzalez. He started his YouTube channel after getting that camera and made a ton of tutorial videos about it.

Hope this helps.
