Canon R7 ii
Is the R7 Mark II actually shipping in May, or is Canon just edging us with these "39MP BSI" rumors?
R7 owner considering R6 ii or R6 iii
R7 now or wait for mk II later this year?

I’ve been tracking the leaks for weeks and the March 2026 vibe is basically a mix of extreme hype and financial dread. After the R6 Mark III launch last November (which, let’s be honest, finally made the R6 line feel "complete" with that 32MP sensor and CFexpress slot), everyone’s eyes are now on the R7 Mark II.
The latest reports say we’re getting an all-new 39MP BSI sensor and the DIGIC Accelerator chip from the R1. If this thing actually does 40fps and hits 8K video, is there any reason left to buy a full-frame body for wildlife? Or are we just waiting for the inevitable "overheating" threads to start in July? Also, to the person who just bought a "discontinued" original R5 for $2,400, you’re either a genius or about to be very salty when the R5 Mark III specs leak this summer.
Hi all,
I’m looking to upgrade from my R7, but I’m torn between the R6 ii or R6 iii.
Although I enjoy wildlife photography and will continue doing it, I tend to shoot landscapes, travel and portraits more, so I’m looking for a more well-rounded full frame camera to handle all the fields better.
I’d really appreciate any insight from people who’ve used either camera and which you would recommend for my interests. I could afford the Mark iii (not the R5 ii, although I wish I could) but I wonder if it’s better to just save the money for a good L lens if the R6 Mark ii is still a good future proof option.
Also, given the R7 has 32mp resolution, would the R6 Mark ii’s 24mp resolution be noticeably different to what I’m used to?
Thank you!
Looking for advice whether to purchase R7 now or wait until the R7 mk II rumored to be coming out later this year.
I’m finally ready to go mirrorless after spending the last 20 years using EF and EF-S lenses. My last new body was the 77D and am very comfortable with APS-c sensors. I often shoot long distances (eg from the shore at crew rowing regattas) so the 1.6 crop helps me, but am looking forward to more modern features that the R7 would offer. I have a pretty robust collection of lenses so will wait a bit before purchasing newer RF lenses.
I see rumors of a new version coming out later this year with stacked sensors and other rumored improvements. I also see this described as likely going “upmarket” which sounds like “more expensive”.
Partly this is a timing question since rowing racing happens in the spring so trying to figure out if I use old equipment and wait, or buy new equipment when newer version is coming in a few months.
