I’ve been a happy customer of my 8yr old HP printer.. the scanner recently broke so I thought instead of spending $50 on new ink, I bought a TR4720 for $60 new.. I underestimated my HP printer bc, all you had to do is plug it in to the Ethernet and you have a working air printer. The TR4720 is missing the Ethernet port, and it’s super hard to type with the numbers. Also it doesn’t have an SD card for auto saving scanned files like my HP (it’s ok May be an old feature) You need to manually select paper size on the TR4720 and that’s where it’s downfall comes in. Printer comes with no instructions. It tells you to scan a QR code that just basically sends you off. It’s impossible to connect the printer to wifi though the app, or change any printer settings through the app. The app is just to say ink levels and if you want to print something from your phone like saved picture (haven’t tried raw files) and DOWNLOADED files. You cannot go to your bills app and print a bill on legal paper and go on to another app and print your envelope. If you swap from A4 to Legal to Letter, it messes up and no matter how many times you manually input the size, it just doesn’t save. So it’s now technically broken unless I have to print legal sized papers. Will not be buying new ink for this printer.
Just recently got this brand of printer. With other brand printers, the scan function had a desktop app I could use to start the scan process, and I found the scan utility driver download on the Canon site and downloaded it. However, it did not put any kind of shortcut icon on my desktop. I would like one, but I am not sure where to find the exact file to make a shortcut with. How can I do this? Using Windows 11.
