November 1, 2023I'm incredibly disappointed with the new canva ai. It's dumber than a bag of rocks.
I’ve had similar problems with ChatGPT image generation too. My sense is that image generation just isn’t there. It can invent it’s own image from scratch but has a really hard time executing anything based on specific commands or an existing image. It can create flavor and aesthetic, but it struggles otherwise. But Canva has been a godsend for me as a small business owner. I had a DesignPickle subscription and it was honestly only slightly better than dealing with AI and it took a full day turnaround to get the next slightly less wrong iteration from a human. Being able to create and resize graphics for all the bazillion purposes and create quick drag and drop images. It’s definitely worth the monthly subscription for me More on reddit.com

I use the background remover often. I've had mixed success with magic expand but it's great when it works. And I've used the image creation a fair bit. More on reddit.com

I asked canva to create a bunch of random images. I realized a lot of them say Instagram post in the description and title. I can’t find that it posted anywhere. Something somewhere said scheduled post but now I can’t find that. Why does it say that? I don’t believe I’ve even connected it to Instagram but it’s using the same email I use for insta.

That “Instagram post” tag in Canva is just the template size, it does not mean it posted anything. If you want a cleaner way to generate images without preset formats, try Vondy’s AI image generator. It is text based, free to use, and gives you simple prompt driven outputs.
