The website SHOULD allow you to log in outside of the States, it allows me anyways, it does require some 2FA, but that can be from your phone (but yours is damaged? can you switch sims to another that isn't?), or I 'believe' email or another email on record.... I have my accountant friends number on record as well as a "just in case".... But I am in the UK right now, and have had no problem accessing my CapitalOne accounts from here or Europe, or Greenland or Iceland, or hell, even the Arctic Circle..... Do you have an iPhone? As my 2FA comes over iMessage even, so it also comes across my MacBook Pro as well... but I'm not sure quite how that works with them... but it has, and that has been convenient... More on reddit.com

A note on customer service; I have never had any Capital One products but my wife did… after she passed away, I contacted them to advise and asked what they required for proof to close the accounts. The rep expressed kind sentiments and said, we’ll close the account and mark as deceased.You will not receive any demands for payment. The next month, I received a statement with zero balance and closed. Other financial institutions / credit card companies required a death certificate and wanted to hold me responsible for whatever the balance was on the existing accounts at time of death. Hey guys, I got my first credit card (Capital One Platinum) a week or two ago, and even though I've made payments toward my balance — the payment is posted, the balance is paid off — my available credit doesn't go back up.
I've tried to call Capital One's customer service lines but it's all automated and there's never any option to speak to a real person.
How can I talk to a real representative? Should I call the credit card fraud line and then ask them to give me a direct number to credit card customer service?
