Can I Use My Credit Card in Europe? | Capital One
November 20, 2025 - If you’re a Capital One cardholder and report your card lost or stolen, you can lock it to prevent others from using it. In the past, credit card companies and financial institutions often required you to alert them of upcoming overseas travel plans so they knew to expect international charges. A travel notice generally isn’t necessary these days, but it’s always better to double-check with your card issuer before you leave.

Restricted Capital One while Traveling
Not sure what documents they are wanting you to upload, or what you mean by "they don't have a visibility," but your problem is not all that uncommon when traveling abroad. Cards get flagged for potential fraud during travel, particularly international travel. Yes, this happens even to "travel" credit cards, particularly newly issued ones when there isn't an established spending pattern. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do if Cap One isn't willing to turn the card back on. It doesn't help you now, but the general wisdom of frequent travelers is to carry multiple cards in case one gets blocked. More on reddit.com

r/CreditCards on Reddit: Restricted Capital One while Traveling
August 20, 2024 -

My card is fairly new - a month old and paid the first bill in full. The reason why I applied for one because of no transaction fee when used abroad.

I am currently out of the country and when I used the card amounting to more than $100, the card got declined. Called up capital one, however, they cannot send a text validation code to my phone so they just sent a link where I can upload the documents.

Ive been calling them to follow-up on the review but the cs keeps on telling me that they dont have a visibility and a way to expedite things. Im getting frustrated because I dont have another card to use while on vacation.

Does anybody know how long this would take? I need the card now, and not 10 days after as I’ll be coming back to US in 4 days…

Appreciate your advice…
