Capital One offers a debit card that is directly linked to your 360 Checking account, allowing you to make purchases, withdraw cash at ATMs, and access your funds securely. When you open your first 360 Checking account online, your contactless debit card will arrive in the mail within 5–7 business days in a discreet envelope. You can activate the card online or through the Capital One Mobile app, and you'll be prompted to set a four-digit PIN during activation, which is required for ATM use.
The debit card is widely accepted and can be used for contactless payments, online transactions, and recurring subscriptions. It can also be added to digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and PayPal for convenient, secure payments. Capital One provides over 70,000 fee-free ATMs across the U.S., including locations at major retailers like Target, CVS Pharmacy, and Walgreens.
As of May 2025, Capital One began transitioning its debit card network from Mastercard to Discover, following its acquisition of Discover Financial Services. This change means that customers will receive new debit cards with updated card numbers, CVV codes, and expiration dates, although their account number and PIN will remain the same. The new cards will feature Discover, PULSE, or Diners Club International logos and will be issued on a rolling basis. The transition is designed to be seamless, with minimal disruption to users, though rare instances may occur where merchants do not support the Discover network.
Customers with multiple 360 Checking accounts will use one debit card across all accounts, but those with different account types—such as both 360 Checking and Total Control Checking—will receive separate cards for each. If a card is lost or stolen, it can be replaced online or via the app, and the existing card will be deactivated immediately. Additionally, users can lock or unlock their card through the Capital One Mobile app.
Capital One also offers $0 liability for unauthorized charges on debit cards, providing strong fraud protection. The bank has eliminated overdraft fees and provides free overdraft protection, meaning transactions that would overdraw the account are declined without fees. For those managing finances, the debit card supports features like Zelle® access, allowance tracking, and goal setting, especially in teen checking accounts.
