I just opened up a checking account with them and I planned on using the card abroad. In the past I've used my ATM card from my primary bank, PNC, and they have gotten to the point where they charge $5 per transaction and 3% of the total I'm taking out. Capital One 360 seems to have no foreign transaction fee at all for an ATM, but I wanted to verify if anyone else has used it and what if any fees did you get hit with?

You are still charged the fee that the ATM operator (not Capital One) issues. When you use your card, the ATM will ask if you'd like to continue even though there is a charge of $x. Also be wary of the exchange rate if offers. Always know what the exchange rate is before traveling so you know if you're ever getting screwed.

I used them in Europe this fall. They don't charge you any fees (foreign transaction fees or fees for using an ATM outside of their network--some cards will hit you with both!), BUT sometimes out-of-network ATMs will charge you fees, and Capital One 360 won't reimburse you for that. However in Europe at least, there are a lot of ATMs that don't charge you fees, though (especially in train stations, etc.). I can't offer you advice about the rest of the world though (yet!)

Looking for a good way to send cash to my wife overseas without getting eaten up by Out Of Network ATM fees and Foreign Transaction fees.
Capital One advertises both of these as no fee, as well as no minimums.
The only downside I've seen reviewed on this is a bigger overdraft fee than other banks but it won't be an issue.
Any gotchas to be worried about?

When you say send cash overseas, do you mean give her an ATM for her to use overseas or to transfer money from a bank in one country to another?

Can't speak about Capital One, but some things to consider re: foreign transactions: Some ATM systems charge fees on top of whatever your bank might charge when withdrawing cash. Currency conversion fee (or just providing a higher-than-market exchange rate) - nothing you can do about that Cash withdrawal fee - some banks will refund fees charged by other banks. I've found that the MasterCard network is awesome; you get fair market exchange rates, and if you have a bank that doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee, you can be much better off using a credit card than cash.

Note that when you go to a Japanese atm there are 3 fees the fee the atm charges. For 7-11 atm this caps out at 220yen if the atm asks you if it wants to do a “convenience conversion” do not do it. It’s always the worst possible choice. Always do yen your bank will charge you fees for accessing a foreign atm. You need to refer to your banks fee policy as to what you’re fees will be for that. But generally speaking a 3-5% foreign transaction fee is extremely common
