Sadly yes. They did the same thing to me too. Capital One won't let you grow. After my bankruptcy I had the Capital One card for 10 years paying their annual fee. Unfortunately my own bank (RBC were equally hard on me.) Finally I reached out to BMO and they were really good to me. Now have a BMO credit card. I canceled my Capital One card. They helped me regain my credit rating but their strategy seems to keep people locked in. Seems kind of predatory to me. I would have thought they'd want to keep customer loyalty but they just didn't care. I also went right to their management several times. Pay it off and move on. It's truly possible. Good Luck! I had their basic card for like 5+ years after a consumer proposal and it was at the core of rebuilding my credit - went from the initial $300 limit now to about $3000 - great product!
