I have CSP (got the 100k offer) and want to get a similar travel credit card for my girlfriend. She has a spending of ~$4000 coming up and wants to get some intro bonus out of it. Since, I have CSP, I do not think it makes sense to get her the same. I am confused between Venture and Autograph Journey. Venture seems a better option as we will get 75,000 miles even if we missed the $250 travel credit. Autograph Journey just fails to impress me.
Firstly, please understand this post is not a criticism and is instead a genuine question. My questions comes down to my understanding of the Venture card. It earns 2 miles per dollar. Miles are worth one penny apiece ONLY if redeeming towards something travel related, past or future. That’s fine for travelers, but it costs a $95 annual fee. This compared to the WF Active Cash, Citi Double, or PayPal MasterCard (all 2% actual cash, not required to be used against travel) doesn’t make sense to me. They don’t charge a fee and their rewards are worth more due to their flexibility. Once again, this post is not me talking down to Venture cardholders, but asking why you use one vs one of the aforementioned. As a quick example, if I have $500 in WF Cashback, I could easily apply that to a previous hotel stay or plane ticket, or even skip the middle man altogether and just get a check. Can someone help me understand?
