I do. Most of it doesn't even apply (if so equipped) and nearly all of the rest is useless, but it is definitive. One lesson from years in the military: It's perfectly fine to throw the book out the window and do your own thing if, and only if, you know the book forward and backwards and can explain exactly why the book doesn't apply to the current situation. Giving the owner's manual a once over costs you nothing and at least runs your eyes over the info one time. It's a good habit to have. More on reddit.com

I just started wondering about this and figured I'd throw the question and my theories out there.
I've owned a good amount of used vehicles, grant it I'm probably at least the 3rd owner of most, the vast majority didnt come with the owners manuals. I know most information can be found relatively easily online. But, it still perplexes me where the owners manuals are going.
Do people throw them out to free up glove box real estate? Decide theres a better place to store it outside the car? Keeping them as mementos when they sell the car? Or is there some shady business of the auction lots taking them all to make an extra $10 here and there selling them online.
It just seems like something that would stay in the glove box the usable life of the vehicle and serve very little purpose elsewhere.

If they are like me, they took it out to read and never put it back. That or weight reduction. You may also check to see if you have an automatic - nobody buys manuals these days. (Sorry.)
