They're both identical and the same thing. The difference is in the marketing and sales channels. Viper is intended for the "top" retailers because it's a better known brand and in turn can be sold for more money. Python was reserved for "tier 2" or smaller dealers who can't support the requirements of Viper. To be honest, I hate that this was/is their marketing strategy. In my opinion, there should be more differentiation between the brands. But there isn't. Your dealer probably isn't a Viper authorized retailer or it wasn't in stock and the Python does the same exact thing. More on reddit.com
