I am an undergrad student. And I don’t know how do I choose a career in it. I have heard that almost every career field in the tech world has around same salaries. So what do I look for?
Talking about my interest I haven’t tried anything yet except some python programming.
I have heard cybersecurity area is not affected by recession.

Happy Cake Day! Anyways, just choose what interests you. I'm interested in math and statistics, so I am trying to learn how to program algorithms related to that. You might like web dev, do that. You might like data bases, do that. You might like algorithms and research around them. Do that! There is a lot to learn, no need to pigeonhole yourself either

I'm 26 and have been in my IT career for almost 6 years now. I have no college degree, no certifications - I am a System Administrator / Network Engineer. So, no - college degree is not needed. Employers (most) want a person with drive, good work ethic and the willingness to learn. Customer service is always important (there! You already have a trait employers want) and general charisma. The team you're on wants someone they can relate to and vice-versa. So, how to start: Apply for Helpdesk positions. Unfortunately, it is awful. But, this is fundamental to learn about basic remote troubleshooting. Being able to remotely troubleshoot is important. You can apply for high level positions, but the likelihood of you getting a call back is, unfortunately, not good. Udemy is a great learning place and building your own virtual lab helps as well! If you are looking for something this summer, its way beyond the point where you can afford to be choosy. You are going to want to apply everywhere that you believe you are qualified for and offers a fair compensation. Given that you have one semester left, you are probably also going to want to start looking for new grad positions as well.
