Boyfriend asked me to update his wardrobe, which sounds really fun, but I need some brand guidance based on his personality and lifestyle.
CARHARTT WIP CARGO PANTS
Regular vs Aviation Cargo Pant
Yes, I own both. The regulars are more baggy, though a much better fit imho. They’re not wildly baggy, but also not tight like the aviations. The last pair of aviation pants I bought I sent back as they were too tight. They just don’t fit right on the legs, at least for me. Too slim and that’s not what I want in a cargo anymore. Would highly recommend a TTS regular cargo rather than an aviation if you’re looking to avoid a slim fit.

He doesn't like shopping and his clothes have gotten very, very ratty. He says he's in a rut and told me I could dress him "however I want him to look". But, I want him to look like himself, just kinda updated/polished.
He's a machinist, so his clothing should be appropriate for manual labor (he's usually doing something dirty at home too like working on a car or bike). He's not country, though, so would not appreciate Carhartt or Whitetail. More stoner/counter culture/hippie/skater. Prefers baggier pants (still wears ancient army/navy cargo pants from high school). Hard no on skinny jeans. Wears Levi's to work but hates them and wants something new. Wears skater style shoes at home (DC, etnies). Generally wears a T-shirt with zippered layers over that. Favorite era is the 40s-60s (he has many vintage cars/motorcycles/pinball machines/jukeboxes from that time span). He's 5'5 and like 140lbs soaking wet.
Are you able to get a feel for his vibe based on this and recommend some brands or styles that would give him a more polished look that still feels like him?
