Hi, I am thinking of getting my boyfriend the the "Rain Defender Loose Fit Heavyweight Quarter-Zip Hoodie (STYLE #100617). I was wondering if anyone had any opinions/info on it?

I am specifically wondering:

- Does the rain defender last or does it go away as you wash it more?

- Is the collar annoying? it looks like the zipper would touch your neck the whole time

- Does it ever go on sale?

I recently picked up the heavyweight Carhartt pullover hoodie (formerly known as the Paxton / Rain Defender) in a size Large, which is usually my true-to-size in most clothing. I'm 162 lbs with a 42" chest.

The fit is slightly oversized, which I could live with, but the length after the kangaroo pocket feels a bit too long and floppy. My main concern is with the neck hole, even in the Large, it feels somewhat snug, so I'm hesitant to size down to a Medium in case the neck becomes too tight.

If anyone has experience with this hoodie:

Does it shrink after washing/drying (especially in length)?

Does the neck opening loosen up with wear or shrink even more?

Would you recommend staying with the Large or trying a Medium?

For reference, a Large fits me perfectly in the Carhartt lined Detroit jacket.

Curious if anyone has purchased a new rain defender and compared it to an older one? Don’t care where it’s made as long as the textile and construction is good quality like the older versions. I believe the new ones are made in vietnam?
