For the last 15 years you can find me wearing a J149 or Rutland hoody every single day and night from about October to May. We keep our drafty apartment at 62'F to save money and my Carhartt hoodies keep me warm and comfy.

Is there any kind of definitive guide or history of these jackets? I did a few searches but couldn't find anything. I recently bought one that was advertised as a J149 but I can tell it's a little bit "off". The inside tag was cut off below the logo so nothing to go by. The fabric just feels slightly thinner, and the cuff and waist gathers don't feel quite as thick and dense. The kangaroo front pocket is very shallow, and the hood drawstring is not as thick as usual. It's not one of the newer Rutland's - no logo on the sleeve.

I also own a Carhartt thermal hoody, J272 DKB that must have come from an online retailer like The Sportsman Guide or something similar. It's like a cost cut version of the J149: thinner outer fabric and thermal lining, PLASTIC zipper with metal tab, really thin hood drawstring, and the whole jacket runs like a size smaller than marked - very weird hoody!

I recently received a Gioberti fleece hoodie for Christmas and the stitching on the wrist already failed. I'd like to know if the Carharrt fleece sweatshirt would be a good replacement.
