So I got approved and they sent me the rates for the loan (carmax was the only option for some reason the banks I tried wouldn’t approve me for a car loan, probably the lack of credit history) I paid the shipping fee, what’s next? I haven’t gotten any updates about the shipping of the car to my local carmax, do I sign the loan at the store how does it work from here, customer service isn’t the easiest to get ahold of
Hey guys, Im in the process of buying a car and leaning toward carmax pretty heavily given I could actually go in person instead of online only options like carvana. But I keep on getting ads and more posts relating to the online only experience.
Just wanted to get some thoughts on your guys' experience when considering buying online but going with a dealership like carmax, what made you go the carmax route instead?
Currently have a car reserved and being shipped out to my local dealership. I started the process of paying for it online, and then called my store to ask about final price, and they told me that if I pay for it online its totally different than buying in store and that I should just wait. Has anyone had any experience with this?
I only ask this because the online offer I received on my 2022 Toyota 4Runner just seems way too good to be true (as in, $2k above high end KBB trade estimates). I'm getting a new 4Runner in a couple of weeks and if the online offer holds up then it essentially means I gained equity in my vehicle over these past 3 years I've been driving it. I put in the information as accurately as I could and was realistic with the questions it asked me during the process online.
So my question is... is Carmax known to give a really good online offer only to get you in the door? Like once you get there do they find every reason to devalue your vehicle and give you less for it? I know this is a common tactic among dealerships.
I have a 2019 Accord Sport with 19k miles that I’m looking to sell and did the Carmax online quote and they’re offering me pretty much what I paid for it. What are the chances they’ll offer me less than the online quote if I take it in?
Received online offer from Carmax and was honest on the questions. Do they usually honor that price? I think my front brakes need to be replaced will they ding me for that?
I bought out my lease with the intention of selling to Carvana, which I've done multiple times. By the time I got the title in hand, I redid offers from both Carvana and Carmax. The closest carmax is 2 hrs away for me and I've never dealt with them (dealt w Carvana multiple times and find it super easy). Now that I have a title in hand, I redid the offers. Carvana's went down almost $4K and Carmax's went up almost $2K. To be honest, the Carmax offer is pretty crazy high - their original offer a few weeks ago was high, but possible, this one seems crazy.
I did accurately represent my vehicle, but this deal seems too good to be true, and I don't really want to drive two vehicles 2 hrs away to get there and get low-balled. Has anyone had that happen? I have uploaded my documents to them - should I call and talk to the local dealership tomorrow? Is the offer high because perhaps they plan to ship my car to some other market?
UPDATE: The results are in. Drove 2 hrs over there and left with a check for the online offer amount! Took about an hour of time there. They took some photos, looked it over, drove it around the parking lot and that was it. The photos they took were emailed to their buyer to confirm the offer. Definitely call that a success!
Hey all, wondering if you can help me out. I sold a car to carmax last year and had a great experience. I accepted their online offer at the time. I have another vehicle which I want to sell. I appraised online it last year at a significantly higher offer. Now when I’m checking the same car with maybe 200-300 more miles, carmax online offer is offering almost $6k less. Is it because I’m checking online again? Would I have a chance at getting a better price thru an in person custom offer?
Thanks!
I’m a first time buyer. I reserved a car Sunday night and it’s on its way to the nearest car max where I live. I know I want the car without the need of a test drive. When I click on “my orders” I get the prompt of “ no orders in progress” even though I already reserved the car and it’s shipping. What do I do here and is this normal?
Under next steps too I see “ready to start buying online?” Then I click start buying online but I get the same issue of it saying no order in progress. Any help would be amazing.
