I have been with Carmax for 5+ years, and it seems to me that the employee experience is on a steady decline. Haven't had a raise since August 2021. All of the people I had spent time building good work relationships with have quit, and management is completely out of touch with reality. They always are thanking the employees for our hard work and telling us how much they appreciate us, but they don't show it. The only rewards we get are mediocre cookouts and "Achievers" points, which we can redeem for gift cards, but when you get a recognition, you barely get any points. And they require you to really work your butt off, to go above and beyond, which normally I don't have a problem with working hard. But when you're constantly working your ass off in the hopes that you can maybe possibly get a 5 dollar reward, or that your manager will cook you a burnt hot dog, it doesn't seem like an equitable situation to me. Just last Friday they went and bought deli meat and bread and had associates make their own sandwiches while they talked about how we need to save the company 100 million dollars and if we can meet our goals on a quarterly basis, we will get a cookout where each person gets 35 dollars (in food) and 15 dollars in Achievers points. So if every single person who works for Carmax finds a way to save 2800 dollars per person, our share of the 100 million dollars saved is 50 bucks, and not even in cash? That's lame.
