Mark Carney in China positions Canada for ‘the world as it is, not as we wish it’ | Canada | The Guardian
18 hours ago - Carney’s visit is the first time in nearly a decade that a Canadian prime minister has been welcomed in Beijing. It comes after years of a deep freeze in the relationship between Ottawa and Beijing that Carney wants to thaw, in order to reduce his country’s precarious reliance on the United States. Guy Saint-Jacques, a former Canadian ambassador to China, said: “The main goal of trying to reset or recalibrate the relationship with China has been achieved during this trip.”

Mark Carney wants to boost trade with China without angering Trump
U.S. goods exports to China in 2024 were $143.2 billion, down 3.0 percent ($4.4 billion) from 2023. U.S. goods imports from China in 2024 totaled $438.7 billion, up 2.7 percent ($11.5 billion) from 2023. US does massive trade with China. They are just trying to keep us under their thumb. It is hypocritical for the US to try and control our goods for their benefit, when they trade with yhe same people. Do what is best for Canada, maybe when the US cleans up their Nazi problem, we can start talking like adults again. That is, if they do and don't just export it here to take over us next. Those fight clubs pushing white power make me nervous. More on reddit.com

Mark Carney heading to China with ‘work to be done’ to repair strained relationship with Canada
That's fair, China is far more predictable and less volatile than the US. We should also strengthen trade ties with the EU and other Commonwealth nations. Good business is where you find it, and that isn't in the US. The complicating factor is that China is gravitating toward making/accepting payments in the yuan as opposed to the USD or other currencies. We might end up having to stockpile yuan reserves if it keeps up, which means accepting yuan as payment for our goods. If China's currency collapses then we'll be in trouble. Of course, I wouldn't expect to have to do this in this decade, it's a Future Canada problem. More on reddit.com

Canada’s Globalist PM Carney Bows to Beijing, Praises Xi, and Hails a “New World Order” While Pushing Away America | The Gateway Pundit | by Robert Semonsen

Claimed by Carney as a necessary adjustment to a “new world order,” the visit instead underscored Ottawa’s growing willingness to accommodate Beijing—and push away the United States—at a moment of geopolitical upheaval.

China pushes Canada to adopt 'strategic autonomy' during Carney's visit | AP News
The government bristled at former U.S. President Joe Biden’s efforts to strengthen relations with Europe, Australia, India, Canada and others to confront China. Now it sees an opportunity to try to loosen those ties, though it remains cautious about how far that will go. Carney, for his part, has focused on trade, describing the trip to China as part of a move to forge new partnerships around the world to end Canada’s economic reliance on the American market.
