August 29, 2014 - The serial number on a Carrier Comfort Series air conditioner is typically found on the outdoor unit’s data plate, usually on the side or back panel. It’s a combination of letters and numbers used for registration and warranty. If missing from paperwork, inspect the metal nameplate near the compressor or fan motor housing.

April 9, 2025 - You can determine the age by locating the carrier serial number lookup on the data plate. Every Carrier air conditioner has a data plate displaying the unit’s information.

Grantee codes that begin with an alphabetic character (A-Z) of three characters in length. The second and third characters may be numbers or alphabetic characters.

The serial number can be found on the “rating plate” sticker of your product. For outdoor units such as air conditioners and heat pumps, the rating plate can be found on back of the unit above the service valve connections.
