Where does the older generation sell their used vehicles? Or does anyone have a neighbor or family member that’s in the market for a new car and will consider selling it to us instead of a trade in?

We’re searching for a reliable family car, preferably a Toyota/ Honda wagon, crossover or SUV. We have about 8k and have been sold 3 lemons in the last year, 2 with blown head gasket and 1 with a failing transmission. Won’t do a dealership since we can’t afford the full coverage insurance and the price increases dramatically if we want to pay upfront without one.

Everywhere we look is full of scams, BS descriptions or rebuilt titles. I don’t remember it being this difficult to find a decent used car.
