Selling a car [-] cars.com or autotrader.com
Has anyone been able to successfully list their cars on cars.com? It seems they intentionally block out private sellers from listing in favor of dealers.
Selling used on cars.com question
Where to find used cars, for sale; by normal people?
All the same places you’re looking now basically, you just gotta wade through the crap to find the descriptions that aren’t just copypasta or one liners. Seriously I’m never buying a car from a guy who thought it wasn’t worth spending more than 30 secs trying to sell it
Oh and local print publications are good as typically the only people using them are older generations and people trying to scam older generations, the later being easier to spot if you don’t fit into the category of the former.
I must say though, it certainly feels to me that less people than ever before are selling their cars privately - it seems more and more people don’t care about getting a crap value for it if they don’t have to deal with selling it.

When will I receive a check for my car?

Recently, I've been trying to sell my car. I create an account with cars.com and submit my listing. I receive a confirmation saying it will be published within 24 hours. After days of silence, I try to login and even login doesn't work. I repeat this process one more time and same thing happens. I contact their support and after an hour they say they need a copy of the title while they already know it's a financed car. My conclusion is that this is intentional so that private sellers lose time and be forced to sell to dealers at a lower price. In my case, I lost weeks trying to list my car. They never contacted me for additional documents and when I contacted them, they ask for a document they know I don't have. They also silently killed my account so I cannot login and follow up. What has America become? Am I missing something?
