Casio CDP-S160 or Yamaha P45
The last time I tried one of the CDP series, it was decent, but I found it noticeably worse than the Yamaha P-45. Granted, that was the CDP-S150, so the S160 could have gotten better. I was expecting them to be pretty similar, but the action on the CDP-S150 just felt springy and cheap. At the time, it was a $50 price difference between the two, and I'd have happily paid the extra $50 for the Yamaha. More on reddit.com

The keys on my Casio CDP-S160 have no weight

That model does have weighted, hammer action keys, though it does have a lighter action. My suspicion is that you're overestimating what the difference between the bass notes and the upper register should be -- it's not drastic. I would expect that there is a difference, it's just subtle enough that you don't really notice it, and that you'd find other digital pianos to be very similar.

Hi everybody! An aspiring pianist here and I would like to have a bit of advice.

The Yamaha P-45 has a noticeably better action that the Casio CDP-S150 (and presumably the 160...I just haven't played on that one specifically, but I think it uses the same action.) I would generally recommend the Yamaha if you can afford it, with one of the CDP series as a good alternative if you if you're on a tighter budget.

Help me decide between some Casio DP's: CDP S150, CDP S350, Privia PX-160, and Privia PX-S1000
I used the PX-160 for my first year of playing and I liked it -- it's a solid instrument. The only reason that I'm not still using it is that I decided to upgrade to a Kawai CA99. I haven't ever played on any of the CDP line, so I can't really compare those. Keep in mind that there are some issues with the PX-S1000 that you might not like -- there's a significant difference in weights between the black and the white keys, and I know other people have complained about how much harder it is to press the keys when you're closer to the fallboard given the location of the fulcrum (a sacrifice made for the reduced size.) May 15, 2025 - Unlike the feature-rich CDP-S360 with its huge set of 700 presets, the CDP-S160 only includes 10 presets. Casio’s Dynamic Stereo Sound Engine powers each of these presets, and it is the same engine that powered the prior CDP-S100 model, as well as the more advanced CDP-S360.
