What’s the difference between a king and a California king?
The main difference between a king and a California king is the mattress size. A standard king mattress is 76" x 80", while a california king mattress is 72" x 84". If you’re deciding between the two, we recommend taking measurements to ensure the Cal king will fit, allowing enough space for the bed frame which can add inches to the perimeter of the mattress depending on the design.
What is the size of a king-sized bed?
A standard king mattress is 76 inches wide and 80 inches long. When paired with a bed frame or foundation, the total footprint may increase by a few inches—up to approximately 81 x 85 inches—depending on the style.
Casper king mattresses are designed to fit standard king bed frames, foundations, and adjustable bases, giving you flexible options based on your room layout and support preferences.
Do I need two separate mattresses for a split setup?
Yes. If you have a split king and you want each side to operate independently, you will need to purchase two Twin XL mattresses. Our King adjustable bed base comes standard as a Split King, so you only need to purchase one frame. Frames can also be synced so they move together.
