Hello! My mom and I have been pretty perplexed lately with regards to what she should wear for my wedding next October, and I was wondering if someone could offer suggestions. The dress code for the wedding is casual (it's going to be at a farm, so nothing too formal), but my mom is having a hard time figuring out what this means for her - many of the dresses she's seen through David's Bridal and such seem out of place to her for a venue like that and she's hoping she won't be too "dressed down" for the occasion. I feel embarrassed and guilty that I don't know how to help - in my mind, I don't mind if guests wear casual dresses, nice blouses and skirts/pants, etc, but I don't know what's customary for the mother-of-the-bride to wear in this situation - if she should be any more dressy or what's considered the norm for this kind of dress code. I'm more concerned about her being comfortable than anything else, since she has some health issues and I don't want her outfit to cause her any trouble.
Apologies if this sort of thing is common knowledge; I'm really not savvy when it comes to fashion or wedding garb and some tips/examples would be really helpful. Thanks a bunch in advance!
So my brother is getting married in October in San Diego, and my mom is really not sure if this dress is appropriate for a mother of the groom. She is a large woman, and I think the dress suits her well but the bride has been particularly unhelpful about giving advice on outfits. Her mother is wearing a long dress, we believe.
