Norah O’Donnell to Exit as ‘CBS Evening News’ Anchor to Become Senior Correspondent
wtf. I Liked her on the CBS Evening News. At least she's still with the company. CBS sadly was in a no win situation. They would never catch up to ABC or NBC who have run rampant on ratings. To me the best post-Rather was Scott Pelley. He wasn't afraid to tell you what you needed to know. During the Trump era he would go off saying "A president divorced from reality". Sadly he was forced out by stupid brass and still works with the network on 60 minutes. More on reddit.com
Does anyone have any idea what our local newscasters get paid?
You’d be surprised how little. We always hear about the anchors of national news shows like the Today show pulling in $20M a year and think the prime time anchors for major media markets can’t be “that” far behind, but they are. The local prime time anchors with average tenure are in the 175-200K a year range. The Doreen Gentzlers who’ve been DC fixtures for decades are in the $275K a year range. The more junior folks who work the desk non-prime time or assignment folks (the poor SOB who has to drive to La Plata at 4AM to frolick in the snow) start in the $85K range. They get paid extra if they participate in promos for companies, show up at conventions, local events to promote businesses etc but their base isn’t what you think it is. Most tech kids working FAANG jobs make more by the age of 26 than the longtime established prime time anchors do at the end of their careers. More on reddit.com
