Hello Mel,

I have just encountered the same problem. To resolve it I had to go to-

File>Account settings>Account Settings>Repair>Advanced Options>Let Me Repair My Account Manually

Once Outlook finishes the spinning wheel of misery, you can update your password here and then sync your account again.

I hope this solves your problem.

Good luck,

So I had an issue with Outlook 365 again, which made it necc to change a password for one of my email accounts.

(For the sake of clarity: I am running Office 365 on a desktop and a laptop. There is no domain, no AD controller and there are no local email servers. I connect Outlook 365 (Outlook 2016 inside of Office 365) to several email accounts. One is an outlook.com email account. One is a google.com email account. Some are Exchange accounts hosted at Rackspace and others are IMAP accounts hosted at Rackspace.

In this instance, I had to change the password for one of the Rackspace hosted IMAP accounts because of what Rackspace says is a bug in Outlook. You can read about that here . I made that password change through Rackspace’s control panel. And this is what happened when I tried to change the password in Outlook 365 to be able to access that account again.)

When I went into Outlook to update the password, this is the screen that Microsoft has forced upon us now…

2018-08-31_22-46-18.png690×788 29.6 KB

There is no password field! There is no way to change the password for the account!

Pressing the “Reset Mail Settings” button does nothing that you can see. And clicking the “Next” button only shows this…

2018-08-31_22-52-08.png489×552 3.65 KB

Which is even more meaningless since I didn’t change anything.

What the hell is wrong with Microsoft?

If they want out of the desktop business (which is what it looks like) then they should just grow a pair and tell end users to f**k off instead of putting us through this.

(Update: To make things more clear… All of my email accounts (except one for Google and one Outlook.com account) are hosted at Rackspace. There is no local Exchange or AD involved here.)
