I remember reading about this a while back. Here is a recent article. It seems a bit strange overall. On one hand we see corporate doing everything possible to cannibalize their physical stores in favor of moving customers online yet here are some dramatic changes emphasizing the traditional market but with a much higher end setting. Will these new or remodeled stores also come with increased staffing to assist customers? Will these associates be trained and provided with working equipment? Who is going to constantly clean these attractive displays from the garbage that customers dump everywhere? What about the roving bands of teenagers that will immediately find new things to play with? All in all this PR article looks great but in the real world, I don't know.

So apparently there has been some major apparel changes going on in Walmart but in typical fashion us (few) associates who work over there have received basically no communication on anything. Even the leads seem clueless on what's going on. I'm hoping there's some apparel associates/leads here that have been better informed and can tell me what's going on.
* The third party people who were doing the mannequins and signage are all gone (laid off?) and we now have a "Fashion Coach" but what exactly is the coach supposed to be doing? Because so far ours has just been yelling at people and sitting in an office, much like most coaches in my store I guess.
* Our mannequins and signage haven't been touched in months (especially signage). Who is responsible for that now?
* Also our freight.. For the last four or five months overnights was working it and first shift was keeping up with the rolling racks. It seemed like things were really starting to improve freight-wise. Second shift (my shift) was actually free to zone a little bit instead of being bogged down with picks and freight (granted I was still getting pulled to OPD or the register most nights..but at least the freight was being done). Now? I come in on second shift and see a pallet of totes with basic apparel stacked over my head and I'm being told I have to work it. I came in to 7 pallets of freight a few days ago...
* Rolling racks aren't getting touched and the hanging freight is stacked to the ceiling on pallets waiting to be processed. When I ask about it I'm being told that overnights no longer touches apparel at all. wtf happened?! Why would they take something that was actually starting to work and break it? (semi rhetorical question lol. I know walmart is famous for doing that). And on that kind of note, what is first shift doing now? What are they supposed to be doing?
* Then there's everything on in the back. I have no idea what's really going on back there but one lead spends literally every shift back there and I can't really see any difference other than it looks like Viz labels (which I've never vized anything in my life and have no idea how any of that works) are being used on the waco boxes.
Basically apparel is falling completely apart and these changes seem stupid. But if someone out there who has more information can really explain how everything is supposed to be working maybe it'll make more sense.

I just started working at Walmart again and I make 14/hr as OGP. Is there a chance I could get a pay increase at some point? Or does that depend on the store? If you Google it says 17.50/18 and idk if that means after a certain amount of time or not.
What do you guys think about this change?
Has anyone heard about a new Walmart restructure possibly involving team leads? I’ve heard that there is something coming down the pipeline regarding the team leads having to work weekends and getting 2 days off together during the week. Not sure of anything else restructuring as far as areas of responsibility or pay. I’ve heard nearly the same thing from 2 different sources.
Like ours is opd will be in front of the store instead of the back yes they get their own cooler customer service moves to the back of the store next to pharmacy and our break room and hr office will be at the back of the store, wild changes there.
I’m asking this because I’m genuinely curious. What were some changes to the company that made Walmart a terrible place to work for associates?
Edit: sorry for the typo
So today I've heard that my whole store is going to be like cap, everyone except front end will be having new schedules and everyone will be working in different areas if they have to. Is this something new or what?
It's not quite like that. What they're calling it is a "rotating" schedule. From the email we received some weeks back, it's going to be associates in almost all areas, and shifts are going to have a 4 week rotation. So you will have different days off every week for 4 weeks, then start those same days off at the beginning of the next month. Also, your days will be separated, and everyone will be guaranteed a weekend day off once a month. Associates who need a set schedule will get their hours cut and put in the schedule where the store needs them to give them hours. Also, on this newer schedule, you won't be bounced around the store to will still have your job code. We have not yet started this at our store yet, but like all changes, I'm waiting to see how this will work.
Aw hel no
Haven't restarted setting yet. I noticed some things have changed since the fall. First thing, TC70's no longer work and when you use your phone it gives you the aisle location, location and just last night it started giving the section. It does not give the mod category. I am thinking this is going to be problematic when you have categories losing and gaining sections.
The main thing is getting rid of the mod sheets being printed through the smart system. Now, you have to go thru the image modular which doesn't always print the upc's but just the pictures.
In oct. 2021 we had our entire store drop again(rare) and nothing got set. Everything is in total disarray. I looked last night and we had 479 late mods. It is just bad that we have to adjust to a new system while needing to try to get the store back together. By the way, inventory is in 4 weeks.
Any suggestions to adjusting to the new system? Anyone know how to get the old mod sheets from somewhere in the system? Any suggestions would be helpful from anyone that has set mods since the TC70 died or mods set recently. Thanks
479 late mods
Just set it all on fire and build a new store next door.
For floorplan/adjacency: SET on the workstation
For non-image planograms: Mod Flex Tool-Print-Print Documents
For Locations: Scan the item in Mod Flex Tool and it will give you new locations even before sections are confirmed.
In 2022 they were making $249,020 off each associate. Now they make $324,280 off each associate in 2025. That's a 33% increase over the course of 3 years. Or 11% increase on average per year that they wring out of you.
How do any Cap 1 Leads and Associates feel about the upcoming changes?
