I have recently bought a protective case with an integrated battery, it’s designed similarly to the Apple battery case that was available for the 6/7 series (like a ‘humpback’). The hump seems actually a little bit thicker (just 1 or 2 mm, I think)than the Apple case was, but the battery has more capacity as well: I remember the Apple case was good for just about one full recharge, whereas this gives me at least 1.5 full recharges. It also has a button to switch it on and off, which allows me to keep the phone battery between 70-90 % state of charge, which should (hopefully) be better for the battery than keeping it fully charged all the time (like it was with the Apple case).

I’ve been using it with this case for a couple of weeks, and I have to say that it makes a huuuuuge difference….not once I had to worry about how much charge I have left since I’m using this case, I can go at least 2 days without charging. As for the thickness of the case, of course it’s not very pleasing aesthetically, but I can still use it easily with one hand, and it doesn’t feel much bigger in my pockets (I don’t have a purse or something like that, so I always carry it in one of my pockets). I do feel the additional weight, but it’s still not very heavy (265 grams total vs. 148 phone only, so the case weighs about 20% less than the phone). My ‘ verdict’ is clear: it’s a game changer. I had already decided to give up on the mini, I have bought an iPhone 14 and was gonna sell the mini, but now I’m not sure if I wanna keep the 14 or the mini…if you can get a battery case for the 13 mini, I totally recommend buying one.
