Hard to comment on this, but I don't know if I've ever seen an approval under 650 that wasn't a co-branded card. Do you have any cards at all? How old is the oldest? More on reddit.com

Cards for good credit tend to have more benefits like rewards, intro APR offers, welcome bonuses and other perks. Both types of cards can still affect your credit score for better or worse, depending on how you use them.

r/CreditCards on Reddit: Is it possible to get a chase card with a 620-630 score
May 12, 2023 -

Going on a last minute trip at the end of June and need to buy my ticket in the next 3 days. I wanted to apply for the chase freedom unlimited card but i know they don't like anything below 650. I've been banking with them for about 5-6 months. Would that help my chances or would it be to risky and I should just use debit this trip?

Edit: thank you everyone for giving me feedback. With the helpful advice I understand now, I will use debit for this trip and continue to focus on rebuilding credit. I did create a roadmap for myself when I started and I can say a new card was not supposed to be in the works until Jan 2024. I was in the works of a credit building loan. This situation just moved up the want for a new card but it wasn't really an absolute need. I will be going back to my roadmap.
