It is up again after about half a year going silent.

I'm a 23 year old full-time college student. Current cards are Discover, and as an authorized user, Citi DoubleCash, Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Freedom Unlimited.
Income is $10K/year. FICO 820.
Chase's pre-approval site shows I'm pre-approved for Freedom Unlimited, Sapphire Preferred and Sapphire Reserve. Anybody know the likelihood of actually being approved for any of these cards?

They said I didn't have enough accounts. It was my first time ever applying.
Total hit in the gut. Nobody taught me about credit when I was younger and I've been working my ass off to get it over 600 for over a year. Boom most of it gone. If they don't reconsider tomorrow I will be closing my bank account and moving elsewhere.
Been doing a lot of work lately on my credit and I’ve successfully gotten my score up to around 660 with some pretty excellent payment efficiency and total balances.. my main bank, Chase, has pre approved me for 5 different cards.
Sapphire preferred Sapphire reserved Freedom Unlimited Freedom Flex Slate Edge
I basically do my every day spending on credit cards and I always pay my balances on time. I do travel a few times a year (hotels, sometimes fly) and would probably be more incentivized to do so if I were to get one of the travel cards. I’m just wondering if the sapphire reserved would be worth it if I’m only going to be traveling maybe once or twice a year, or If the freedom unlimited card is better for me as just a daily card with good cash back. I guess I’m just looking for some general information on these cards.. specifically the sapphire preferred and the freedom unlimited since those are the two I’ve narrowed it down to. Unless someone can sway me!! Thanks
I just went to the Chase pre-approval site and it seems to show me as preapproved? it has offers for me and im just not sure how reliable it is or if im misunderstanding it. after putting in my info i get a screen that says "choose one of your pre-approved offers" and it shows me the slate edge, both freedom cards, both sapphires. the problem is my score should not qualify me for any of these cards so i dont want to be naive and apply when i am sure i should be denied.
my current scores are: EQ: 644. TU: 661. Ex: 627. income $70k. 12 total accounts. 4% utilization 2 collections (1 on experian) and 2 student loans from 6 years ago. im still trying to repair my credit but i really want to get a chase card at some point. any tips? ill provide more info if needed im still somewhat new to credit i just started rebuilding 7 months ago.
UPDATE: went to chase to open a checking account and the banker said I was approved for every card. Applied for the sapphire preferred and got approved for $5K 😇😤🫡
I got an email earlier today saying I was pre-approved for the Chase Freedom Unlimited card. However, when I visited Chase’s pre-approval page it showed no offers for me. Is this just marketing? Should I apply through the link or is it better to wait it out?
EDIT: I logged into my Chase account and went to the "Credit Cards" tab. There is a list of credit cards with some of them having a green banner saying "You're already approved". Has anyone had any experience with this? Is this a guaranteed approval?
EDIT 2: For anyone interested, I was able to get the card right away after logging into Chase, going to the "Just For You" tab, and applying for the CFU in there. They just asked for my income and approved me on the spot. I had other offers as well like the CSR, CSP, and Southwestern but they were taken away once I got approved for the CFU. Hopefully, they come back again so I can aim for the Chase Trifecta.
Both me and my wife bank with Chase.
2 weeks ago, on my wife Chase's account, there was a banner saying that she wife was "already approved" for the Freedom Unlimited for a $9,000 credit line, so she applied, and surprise, she got instantly rejected, and got a hard inquiry on Experian. A couple of days later, we received a letter saying something like “You have too many credit accounts”. My wife only has 2 credit cards (1 from local credit union, and the other one is the Chase Sapphire Preferred), and she is an AU of 2 of my credit cards. We called reconsideration line, and they were able to approve the card, however, the credit line was only $5,000, and we asked why not $9,000 and they just said that they can't offer that at the moment.
I also had that same banner showing up on my account for the Freedom Flex and the Sapphire Preferred, with $9,000 credit line, so 2 days ago I decided to apply for the Freedom Flex, and surprise, now I got that they couldn't make a decision at the moment and need to review my application, and will let me know their decision in 7-10 days, and I got a hard inquiry on Experian as well, like, WTF Chase!?, wasn't I already approved!?
Update 1: My application just got rejected too 😡. I’m going to call reconsideration line and see what happens. Wish me luck!
Update 2: I called the reconsideration line, and they said they rejected the application because they couldn’t verify my identity (even though I bank with them lol), so I appealed their decision and then got approved for the freedom flex with a 10k credit line.
So I guess that’s my happy ending. So, after going through this experience, my takeaway is, those "approved" or "pre-approved" banners are BS, but you can still get approved by calling the reconsideration line, but it doesn’t guarantee you will get approved.
Doesn't make sense to me. Every time I log into the banking app (I bank with Chase) there's a new notification (6 total) of credit cards stating "you're already approved". I didn't *need* the card but figured wtf it'll help me get my credit better (score is 741) since I only have one Citi card right now with a $8,400.00 limit.
So I accept the offer last night, get denied today and take a hit for the hard pull. That's wack.
They said it was the length of credit history and no loans being paid back. I don't have any debt. I have 1% utilization on my credit. I figured they would know most of this before I applied & took a hit for the hard pull.
So I’ve been checking my credit across multiple platforms, myFICO, chase, Experian app, capital one, and whatever other means I have available just to see all the different scores I have. In the Chase app I have a 718 score and see a bunch of cards that I’m approved for (southwest, edge, United, sapphire reserved and preferred)
The big question is has anyone been approved in the app, applied for the cards and actually gotten them? (I don’t trust pre-approvals which is why I’m asking)
Would love data points if you were approved
I’ve banked with chase since high school if that’s relevant it’s been about 10 years now.
I actually have good credit, but I've applied for 2 cards and 1 loan in the last 6 months. I'd like to get the Freedom Unlimited card, but this is making me think it won't be approved.
Result: Instant approval. I guess the preapproval isn't necessarily a great sign of your approval odds.
Hey guys. I have been pre approved for 3 chase cc (Freedom Unlimited, Flex and Slate Edge) When I click on the offers through the chase app all of them show me that I have been approved for a credit line of $101. I find it extremely confusing that for the unlimited card, it requires me to spend $500 in 3 months to get a bonus of $200 while the credit line $101. Is this some sort of Automated glitch?
As for my history, I’m young and just 5 months ago became an authorized user on my dad’s flex card. Never had any cc on my own. Yes, I bank with chase on a regular basis.
Should I apply or just wait for a new offer to pop up? Cause I’m really trying to step up from being just an authorized user. Thanks
Update: applied and got approved in the range of $1500-$2000!
Was looking around and I saw it on their credit cards page. Here’s the link: https://www.chase.com/preapproved?jp_aid=cc%2Fmptarg1%2Fint%2FPRQA%2Fhero&CELL=6FHX
I tried to use the Chase pre-approval tool to see if I could get preapproved for the United explorer card and I got this message:
“We can‘t find any offers for you right now. This could be because you've opted out of pre-screened offers or you've recently responded to another offer. Your credit has not been impacted.”
Could this be because I’ve hit the 5/24 limit? I’ve only gotten 4 cards in the past 24 months, but I did check for preapproval for a card (Amex Gold) but ended up not taking the offer, which Chase might be reading as a 5th application? Or is there a different reason that people usually get it?
My Vantage Score on the Chase app is 764 and I currently have a CSR, Amex BCP, Amex Green, and a Bilt rewards mastercard all in good standing.
If I can’t get the United explorer then I have alternative cards I’m considering like the Alaska Airlines visa card, but I’d prefer the United explorer for the no AF in the first year. My home airport is SEA so Alaska wouldn’t be a terrible choice.
How solid is this pre approval ? It seemed so much easier to get Pre Approved through them than the other 2 lenders I worked with. Anyone have any reviews on a pre approval through them?
Looking at getting a Chase Freedom Unlimited as a gas card and get started on a Chase duo with this and an eventual CSR to take advantage of a new local CSP lounge and plans to travel more.
Are my odds to get approved for Chase Freedom Unlimited strong or is another card recomendable (Visa strongly preferred)
Current cards: C1 Platinum(Product change to Quicksilver pending) Limit $500 (Opened NOV 23) Delta Amex Blue Limit 6k (Opened Feb 24)
FICO Score: TU 713 EFX 719 XPN 719
Oldest account age: 7 months (5 months avg age)
Chase 5/24 status: 2/24
Income: 51k
Average monthly spend and categories:
dining: $490
groceries: $190
gas: $130
travel: Between 1.5k and 2k per year (I maybe travel 2-3 times per year). But this could change with more income
Open to Business Cards: No
What's the purpose of your next card? Looking for a good Visa card to use at Costco Gas (not a fan of Costco Citi card due to limited flexibility) and would like to establish a relationship with Chase (have never had a bank account with them.
Do you have any cards you've been looking at? CSP/CSR, Southwest cards, Alaska Airlines Card
Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Would prefer a card with a dining bonus as this is my largest expense. Gas bonus would be nice but not a deal killer.
Edit - Totally understand people are skeptical about bankers' words and I didn't share my card history (too lazy to do that lol). So I would call this my "story" instead of DP to be more appropriate! Read on at your own risk please.
Today I asked a banker in-person that if I have any pre-approval offer he could see on his side. There wasn't any. Then I just casually asked if there's still this rule of 5/24 (thinking I already knew the answer). To my surprise, he said "they had stopped doing that". I honestly thought I heard it wrong or he didn't understand my question?! But no, he further confirmed that change was a total rescind of 5/24 on all Chase credit cards. I immediately applied for a CSR and got instant approval. I'm at 7/24 before this application (all personal cards, no business).
Hello, I am a 22 year old college student. I currently have a Chase Freedom Unlimited Card, and I spend a little under $1,000/month besides rent. I pay it off in full most months, and don’t keep a balance for too long.
The limit on my Chase Freedom Unlimited Card is $9800, which is significantly higher than I’ve ever had on it. The only reason I’m considering the Sapphire Preferred is for the benefits. I am planning on taking a vacation abroad this summer after I graduate, which I mention because it could be relevant to the perks and intro bonuses.
I’ve never had a Credit Card with an annual fee, though, and so I’m worried it wouldn’t be worth the money.
Do y’all think that the Chase Sapphire Reserve is worth it, and would it make sense for my situation? Thanks!
I am currently a Chase Checking account holder.
My FICO score is 797.
I currently hold an AMEX Platinum, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, and Hilton Surpass cards, two Capital One Venture cards, a Citibank American Airlines platinum .
I am currently at 4/24 for new cards.
Approximately 17 years ago, due to a serious extended illness, I defaulted on several thousand dollars of credit card debt with Chase.
Previously, when checking the preapproval tour with Chase, I receive no offers. Now I am receiving an offer for a Southwest Airlines, Chase card and a freedom card.
I would be grateful of someone could help me understand the following:
1.) Does the fact that I am now receiving preapproved offers mean that I could indeed get a Chase card again? If I were eligible for a Sapphire card, for example, would it neccessarily show up in the preapproval tool?
2.) Does the 5/24 rule apply to a business card as well?
3.) does Chase match applicants, even if shown is preapproved, against some sort of “blacklist“ if there was a long past debt?
