They will raise the limit on wires and make them free. Which is actually useful (for me). In exchange they will call / email trying to rope you into their subpar investment products probably every other month. Its not really worth it. The opportunity cost of keeping 250k in a Chase checking or savings account is extremely high. If you had 250k in an Ally savings account earning 1% interest, you would earn $2,512 yearly. If you kept 250k in a Chase savings account which I believe would earn 0.06% with a 250k balance, you would only earn $150 yearly.

That means that the indirect cost of a Chase private client account is $2,362 yearly.

While the 250k requirement can also be met with investments, I would not recommend this either because they will push an actively managed account which would have much higher fees than Vanguard for example. A portfolio of Vanguard index funds performs the same as even the most exclusive hedge funds in the long run, so why pay Chase to manage your investments when Vanguard index funds have some of the lowest fees in the industry.

As a former Chase teller, respectfully, I don’t think you and a lot of CPC clients get how Chase works. The lines are a pain, I get it. But most tellers at Chase are competent and can do most of your banking tasks including more complicated transactions like wire transfers. Waiting for a banker in these situations really doesn’t help you in any way and for most transactions they’re not BSing you as the banker’s can’t do teller tasks. As far as whether CPC is worth it in general that’s a separate question regarding your interest rate or investment opportunities etc. But honestly if I had the money to be a CPC and could do most of my banker transactions at the teller line instead of having to wait for a banker to be available, that would suit me just fine. And the tellers are more knowledgeable than people think (they’re paid at least twenty-five an hour and Chase is extreme when it comes to following procedure).
