I almost smashed my phone to pieces. Only hold forever, finally got someone, his response was "my system isn't working" let me transfer you, kept saying "few more minutes, please hold" which went on for about 20 minutes and then accidentally hung up. I've given up since my flight isn't until May Chase has been utterly useless for the most part when it comes to using UR points and getting information about travel booked via their system. r/awardtravel on Reddit: Chase Travel: Any way to get through to a person?
January 28, 2020 -

Last year I booked a flight to Japan for this April using points. With Covid-19, all my friends have decided not to go and have begun cancelling their flights. Sadly, Chase's website will only let me cancel my flight by taking to a person. I have spent an average of 5 hours on hold the last four days trying to get through to cancel my flights on their number: 1-888-511-5326. I never get through and eventually have to give up for the day.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can get through or alternatives? Waiting on hold for half a day is no longer tenable.

May 3, 2024 -

I apologize in advance for the ignorance and naivety.

I booked tickets for American Airlines via travel portal tp use my points as it appeared I would get more "bang for my buck" in the points. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on the flight back where I booked a 7am flight instead of 7pm flight. How that happened I can only attribute to stupidity. I really need thr 7pm flight back and is available but was told I cannot change anything since I booked via the portal.

Any advice on what to do? I'm okay paying a differential for the flight change but that doesn't even seen like an option.

For one...mistakes happen. Please dont apologize to these trolls on Reddit. Most of them live to downvote regardless of what you say. You didnt mention if this was economy or main? Main, you usually can change. Just call Chase and have them do it for you. If its economy...thats a little tough but I would still call them directly and see if it can be changed with some fees.

Do you have a frequent flyer account on-file with the airline(s)? I recently made a third party booking (Travelocity flying United) and I needed to change my return flight after the trip had started. I just logged into my account on the app and I was able to make the change (NOTE: I had to pay the fare difference). I know I didn't use the Chase portal, but from the airline's perspective all 3rd party sites should be the same, right? Now then, a couple of caveats: I had a ticket (Main Cabin) that allowed for changes. If you booked basic economy, you'll have to pay a change fee plus fare differences. I think having my ticket associated with my frequent flyer account made a difference. When I changed my flight, United cancelled my original return flight and put a credit in my FF account. Then -- moments later -- I was able to book the new return leg using that credit. I'm not loyal to a particular airline so I need to comparison shop and 3rd party sites are really convenient. In fact, I wind up using a third party for most of my flights. I've done the above procedure to change flights a few times and had good luck every time. I know people swear you should never use a 3rd party site, but it's always worked fine for me. As always, YMMV.
